I revealed this cover on social media, but I haven't shared it here. My next book, Now That We Don't Talk, comes out on Oct. 6 from Scholastic. In this story, two best friends are drifting apart, so their adorable French bulldog and pug try to "parent trap" them to become friends again, but because they are silly dogs, things don't go as planned. (For ages 8-12). The cover is so much fun - art by Yaoyao Ma Van Ad, design by Maithili Joshi. What do you think? This is also the title of a Taylor Swift song whose lyrics perfectly match the themes of the book. Here's my cover reveal video (on Tiktok and Instagram) with the music. It's always helpful to get early support for a book, so I'd be grateful if you added this to your Goodreads To Read list. Book Release: Stealing the ScoreIn February, I was thrilled that my World Cup mystery, Stealing the Score, came out. I had a great time celebrating with friends and my parents (and got these amazing cookies from my friend's incredibly talented daughter, Sarah Yue). Check out my Instagram post on release day where I post my acknowledgements thanking everyone involved with the book. Spring Events: Festivals, School Visits, MoreI so enjoyed author-related events this Spring: Scholastic Book Fair: It never gets old to see my books at the book fairs! Southwest Florida Reading Festival: The Southwest Florida Reading Festivalin Fort Myers in March made us authors feel so special, from an evening banquet to VIP rooms. A highlight was an amazing school visit at Edison Park Creative and Expressive Arts School, where they went all out in decorating their library with giant books and signing tables copying our covers. (Other fun memories: having dinner with Wally Lamb and doing an impromptu podcast with two Venezuelan teens), See my Instagram post for more photos & details. Middle Grade Authorcade Retreat: I just came back from a wonderful three days at Boyds Mill in Honesdale, Pennsylvania with author friends (part of Authorcade). We worked independently with breaks for hiking and battling insects/birds/critters and spent time together at delicious meals, hanging out, and sharing our work and company each evening. This is our group's fourth gathering (and my second). I love listening to early drafts and then seeing the books published a couple of years later. Pictured below: Alyssa Colman, Kate Albus, me, Yvette Clark, Rina Heisel, Megan E. Freeman, Victor Pineiro, Nancy Tandon, and Payal Doshi. Check out all of their amazing books! See our Instagram post for more details. Personal Doings - Have a Great Summer! My other Spring accomplishment: in March, I ran my second half-marathon,12 years after my first. My friend Janet and I trained well until January and February's icy/snowy patch made running sporadic. She ended up being ill on the day, so I ran on my own, and I am happy with my 13:06 minute mile. I'm looking forward to some fun travel, including our daughter's college graduation in a couple of weeks and catching some World Cup games in Boston and Miami in July! I'll leave you with this very cool photo of a fox taken by my husband David Jacobs in Virginia Beach. This post is a reprint of my email newsletter. Sign up to receive these posts by email:
