I'm a contributor to the following anthologies:

IF I COULD CHOOSE A BEST DAY: POEMS OF POSSIBILITY

ed. by Irene Latham & Charles Waters, illustrated by Olivia Sua (Candlewick Press March 4, 2025)
Picture
An ode to imagination and the power of “if,” this exhilarating poetry collection features the voices of thirty-one diverse poets.

If I could choose a best day
it would be sunny
it would be summer

and I would be with you.

Imagine what you could do with if. Build a tree house, ride your bike back in time, catch a firefly like a tiny star in the palm of your hands and let it go to make a wish—anything, when it starts with if. Because if is where your imagination begins, where the impossible becomes possible, if only you imagine. And if you do, just think of how much better our world could be. Thirty-one poets, selected by “poetic forever friends” and frequent collaborators Irene Latham and Charles Waters, begin each of their poems with the word if and imagine the possibilities the gift of if can hold. Olivia Sua’s cut-paper and painted-mosaic illustrations add warmth and meaning to the poems, allowing the reader’s mind to soar with possibility. In an end note, the anthologists offer insight into their selection process, aimed at gathering a comprehensive and representative collection of poems.

DON'T TOUCH THAT: AN ANTHOLOGY OF PARENTHOOD IN SFF, ed, by Jaymee Goh (2022)
Picture

Parents exploring ancient, curse-ridden caves with their children. Parents trying to give their kin enough personal space to grow their own intergalactic empires - and make their mistakes. Parents hunting the monsters that hide beneath kids' beds. Parents offering advice to the adventuring child who never takes it.

In February 2020, author Jess Hernandez tweeted out how much fun it would be to contribute to an anthology that explored the theme of parenthood in science fiction and fantasy in the same style as Mike Chen's debut novel Here and Now and Then.

Yes, it would, Mike tweeted back, and thus was born Don't Touch That: An Anthology of Parenthood in Science Fiction and Fantasy, organized by SFF authors Mike Chen (of the aforementioned Here and Now and Then), K.A. Doore (the Chronicles of Ghadid Trilogy), and Keena Roberts (Wild Life) and, if funded, edited by Jaymee Goh (The Sea is Ours: Tales of Steampunk Southeast Asia and The WisCon Chronicles Vol. 11: Trials by Whiteness) and featuring this stunning cover artwork by Samantha Skeels.

THANKU: POEMS OF GRATITUDE, ed. by Miranda Paul, illus. by Marlena Myles (Lerner Books 2019)
Picture
How do you give thanks?
Gratitude isn't something we need to save up for a special holiday. What are you grateful for right now, today?

This anthology brings together a diverse group of poets who express gratitude for everything from a puppy to hot cocoa to the sky itself. Each writer uses a different poetic form, and readers will encounter a concrete poem, a sonnet, a pantoum, a sijo, and much more.
Contributors include Kimberly Blaeser, Sun Yung Shin, Naomi Shihab Nye, Charles Waters, Janice Scully, Jane Yolen, Traci Sorell, JaNay Brown-Wood, Cynthia Leitich Smith, Margarita Engle, and more. Stunning illustrations from Marlena Myles invite close examination, making this a collection to return to and savor again and again.

A portion of the proceeds from this anthology will be donated to We Need Diverse Books.

Review: " . . .Sylvia Liu's 'Thanks in Advance (for Not Squishing Me),' will elicit laughter." -Booklist
